High School Dropout Turned 300 Bitcoins Into Millions of Dollars

There was a pretty smart kid, now young adult, who once invested his grandmother’s $1000 gift for college into Bitcoin at just $12 per coin in 2011 when he was just 12.

He sold out with Bitcoin’s price at around $1200 by the end of 2013.  With that original investment, he turned $1000 into $100,000. 

At 15 years old, he then took a business idea and eventually found an investor who was willing to offer him either $100,000 or 300 Bitcoins, at a time when Bitcoin had dropped to a value of just over $200, worth about $60,000, at the time.

He took the 300 Bitcoin.  Today’s value of those 300 Bitcoin is approximate $4.5 Million (updated Nov 2020).  Good thing he didn’t take the $100,000.

Eventually he found a buyer for Botangle’s technology in January 2015. The investor offered either $100,000 or 300 bitcoin, which had dropped in value at that time to a little more than $200 a coin. He took the lower cash value bitcoin deal because he believed it was “the next big thing.”
